Trauma was a heavy metal band based in San Francisco, California. Burton joined Trauma in 1982 and recorded an album with them titled Scratch and Scream. However, he left the band shortly after to join Metallica, which proved to be the defining moment of his musical With Burton on board, Metallica embarked on an epic journey that would push the boundaries of the genre. His influence was immediately felt in songs like Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) from the debut album Kill 'Em All where he showcased his virtuosic bass skills.
